TM3390 : County boundary sign, Bungay

near to Ditchingham, Norfolk, Great Britain

County boundary sign, Bungay
County boundary sign, Bungay
Travelling eastwards on the A143 one passes through a very short bit of Suffolk before returning to Norfolk (see Suffolk county sign photo, TM3389). The reason is that the boundary is following the River Waveney, and just here there is a loop of the river northwards (Outney Common). The road cuts straight across the 'neck' of the loop: the motorist who doesn't study the map might be puzzled by this sudden 'in and out' motion between the two counties over such a short distance!
