Note the young trees. The forest is regenerating fast here and the natural treeline is being restored. This is the Ryvoan Pass, with old trees on the glen floor and the trees getting smaller the higher up Meall a'Bhuachaille you go. Travel off paths on this day was nearly impossible, even with the correct footwear (ie skis), the snow was very deep. Outside the forest things were even worse!
