One of the joys of the Shetland Islands, apart from the great scenery, is the quiet roads. Thanks to money from the oil industry, the Shetland Islands has a superb road network. In many places you can still see the remains of the old roads and it's fairly evident that it used to be quite a chore to drive around the islands.
