Alien spider attack (actually ermine moth caterpillars)
Ermine moth caterpillars spin webs for protection from wasps and birds before they pupate. Here thousands of the caterpillars are in the process of denuding this hedgerow. Quite spooky looking! Also see NT5571 : Web attack, NT5571 : Road verge attacked by ermine moth caterpillars and NT5571 : Webs formed by ermine moth caterpillars.
