Webs formed by ermine moth caterpillars
Webs formed by ermine moth caterpillars
Hawthorn bush completely covered in webs spun by ermine moth caterpillars. It takes about two weeks to completely cover a tree or bush. They build webs around their favourite feeding plants in order to protect themselves from predators. Also see NT5571 : Web attack, NT5571 : Road verge attacked by ermine moth caterpillars and NT5571 : Alien spider attack (actually ermine moth caterpillars).
