Mainstay of the service
In 1960, the basic Blackpool to Fleetwood service was in the hands of the comfortable 'Coronation' cars, dating from 1953. They had excellent acceleration, but with four motors per car and an advanced control system, they proved expensive in terms of maintenance. Later in their lives, they were modified with a simpler system and all were withdrawn by the 1990s. No 308 is seen here at Anchorsholme near Cleveleys.
