Distribution Centre, Whitwood Common Lane, 1979
The distribution centre and warehouse at Whitwood Common Lane which now belongs to Tibbett and Britten, was originally built for Elida Gibbs Ltd, as a distribution centre for toiletries products made at their factories in Leeds (toothpaste, shampoo, deodorant, etc). It was built in 1978 and became fully operational in 1979. In the mid 1980's the site was sold to Tibbett and Britten. At the time of this photograph there were very few other industrial buildings in the area, which is now heavily built up.
