Beehive Inn, Grassmarket
One of several coaching inns that stood in the Grassmarket, being the main arrival point for travellers entering the town from the West. Generations of Highland drovers arrived here to sell their beasts for 10 or 12 pounds Scots at the cattle market which stood at the east end of the open market-place. The corn market, where oats and bere were auctioned, stood at the west end.
