The "harvested" oak in the foreground are sold at the Forestry Commission's annual hardwood auction, with the smaller material sent to local sawmills. A sign on the entrance gate to the inclosure (strangely ante-dated as November 2006) says that the rides in the inclosure will be restored once the extraction has taken place and ground conditions are more favourable.
