Twenty years ago the thought of poppies and other wild flowers having an important role at a Farm show would have been laughable. Conservation and environmental issues have put wild flowers firmly back on the farm in a managed context. All subsidy payments are now inter related to how environmental schemes are implemented on farm, some are mandatory (cross compliance) others are optional but you can't have the money unless you comply (entry level scheme) The penalties for non compliance are strong including withholding payment.
Therefore amongst a whole range of directives there are now conservation strips and headlands strips, hedges cannot be cut until the autumn and working fields right up to the ditch or hedge is a big no no. Other measures include no burning of any packaging, recycling all bags pesticide containers and plastics.

The machinery backdrop is from the Case range, another brand in a big conglomerate part of the New Holland Group owned by Fiat.
