Looking Southwards with the Lammermuir Hills in the distance and the "electric scheme" on the right. Because the scheme (estate) was all electric. Other names were "Concrete City" and latterly just "The Scheme" which gave it a kind of sinsiter aura. Which having spent most of my own relatively happy youth in that little box in the mddle of the photo we all thrived on the percived notoriety of "The Scheme" In reality, however any stranger wandering into the place would find it about a threatning as a day out at a Church fete.
