SO8441 : Water extraction, River Severn

near to Hanley Castle, Worcestershire, Great Britain

Water extraction, River Severn
Water extraction, River Severn
Licences are given to farmers and growers to extract certain quantities of water from the rivers for use on the fields.
This pump is close to the Hanley Castle sewage works - so may be connected with that.
The river Severn is popular for leisure craft during the summer months, though a one time (before the railways) it would have been very busy all year round.
Worcestershire Beacon, the highest of the Malvern Hills, some 8km away in the distance.
