Salt Marsh south of Roman Landing
A noticeboard by Chichester Harbour Conservancy says "The marsh inside the sea wall is particularly important for wildlife. The periodic flooding by both fresh and salt water has created a series of lagoons interspersed with patches of vegetation. These habitats provide for a wide range of insects and other invertebrates which in turn provide food for many species of birds. Brent Geese and ducks such as Teal and Wigeon feed on the plants, whereas waders like Redshank, Lapwing, Snipe and Black-tailed Godwit take invertebrates."
