The single track A890 is sandwiched tightly between the steep and unstable crags on the right, and the railway and shore of Loch Carron on the left. It was built in the 1970s to provide a ferry-free route between Kyle of Lochalsh and Strathcarron, bypassing the short crossing at Stromeferry.
