Rubh' Àird Mhicheil
These striped rocks are part of an outcrop of 'older basic' rock which was intruded into the Archaean gneiss about 3000 million years ago, and has since been deformed and reworked by later events 2400 million years ago and again between 1800 and 1600 million years ago. They are thought to equate with the first phase of Scourie dykes on the Scottish mainland.
