HMS Cricket memorial
Erected in Manor Farm Country Park. According to a Hampshire County Council document, "Veterans and the Botley and Curdridge Local History Society have worked with the manager and staff of Manor Farm Country Park to develop a memorial to those that served at HMS Cricket. The dedication of the memorial will take place on 2 June 2004." The inscription reads
HMS CRICKET
COMBINED OPERATIONS AND LANDING CRAFT BASE
1943-1946
To honour the memory of those members of the landing craft crews who sailed from this base and gave their lives during the D-Day landings in Normandy and in later sea-borne operations.
Also to commemorate the vital part played by all personnel from HMS Cricket in the liberation of Europe and the final victory.
