Lizard Orchid (Himantoglossum hircinum)
This large orchid is nationally rare, restricted to a few sites in Southern England, of which this one, on the Royal St Georges golf links, contains by far the largest population in the UK. Typical habitat is in long grass. It has one of the most unusual flowers of all British orchids - see TR3658 : Lizard Orchid (Himantoglossum hircinum) for close up.
