The Taff Trail
The Taff Trail
A junction of tracks on the Taff Trail, the trail to the left is the Brinore Trail which follows the trackbed of a former tramway which was opened in 1815. It linked the coal fields near Tredegar and the limestone quarries at Trefil with the Brecon and Monmouthshire Canal at Talybont. This of course was pre-steam engine and horses were used to naul the wagons up and gravity used on the return journey. Brinore is the anglicised name of the tramway, in Welsh it is Brynoer
