SZ3685 : Compton Chine
3 km from Brook, Isle of Wight, Great Britain

Compton Chine
Chines are small, steep sided, stream valleys, common on the south coast of the island. They are prone to erosion, from the sea as well as the stream. Here, the sides, running through Gault Clay and Lower Greensand, have collapsed taking the footpath bridge with them. A new bridge has been built further inland, from where I am taking the photo.
