SN2243 : Coat of arms, Manordeifi old church
near to Llechryd, Ceredigion/Sir Ceredigion, Great Britain

Coat of arms, Manordeifi old church
It is placed below a memorial to Susanna, who died in 1823, wife of David Davies of Pentre, daughter and heiress of Erasmus Saunders of Pentre and of Jane, (daughter and heiress of Richard Phillips of Dolhaidd in Carmarthen), and grand-daughter of Bridget (daughter and heiress of Evan Gwyn of Moel Ifor, Cardigan).
Susanna is thus defined by her relationship to no less than four males, and provides an example of the interweaving of the Anglo-Welsh gentry families that secured their estates and fortunes through the generations. The coat of arms, for which I do not have the technical knowledge to describe, presumably indicates the genealogical union.
