View towards the Bryn Eglwys Hotel
The hotel was once a large Georgian farmhouse. The earthwork running across the centre of the picture is a section of embankment constructed c1906. for the Portmadoc, Beddgelert & South Snowdon Railway the embnakment leads towards the planned site of the Gelerts's Grave bridge. Neither the bridge nor this section of line were ever constructed. The later Welsh Highland Railway takes a different route towards Beddgelert, crossing the Glaslyn at Bryn-y-Felin Bridge.
