TF8937 : Tower of St Edmund's Church, Egmere
near to Waterden, Norfolk, Great Britain

Tower of St Edmund's Church, Egmere
Both Egmere and nearby Waterden are deserted villages, victims of the clearances in the late Middle ages when landlords removed tenants to make way for more profitable livestock. The tiny church at Waterden survives, but at Egmere only the substantial remains of the noble west tower and a few fragments of the nave remain, in a field grazed by cattle.
