Shooter's Bottom wind turbine at dusk
The wind turbine was completed and set in motion on 13th June 2008, and is the first such turbine in Somerset. Its rotor diameter is 70m, and it has a 2MW capacity. Apparently, it will provide enough green electricity each year to power 5% of the homes in the Mendip district. It is claimed that if another nineteen are added then all the homes in this part of Somerset could be powered by a clean, local power source.
