TA0749 : Struncheon Hill Lock

taken 16 years ago, near to Hempholme, East Riding of Yorkshire, Great Britain

Struncheon Hill Lock
Struncheon Hill Lock
The upstream approach to Struncheon Hill Lock, the weir to the right. there seems to be some controversy over the name, the Environment Agency preferring Hempholme Lock, the canal-knowledgeable locals apparently preferring Struncheon Hill Lock. Some work still remains to be done to connect Driffield at the northern terminus with navigable system. The upper parts of the R Hull and the Driffield Navigation are looked after by the Driffield Navigation Trust - LinkExternal link
