SN0540 : Ringlet butterfly
near to Newport, Pembrokeshire/Sir Benfro, Great Britain

Ringlet butterfly
This little near-black butterfly hardly ever comes to rest and is a real challenge to photograph without a good zoom lens. This specimen is the darker male, the lighter females drop their eggs in flight on the grasses that will be the food plant of the larva. Both sexes have the characteristic 'eyes'on the underside of their wings.
