Looking north across New Road Side from the end of Newlay Lane. The sandwich bar is at the corner of Regent Avenue.
15 years later, in 2021, the newsagents has closed, and the sandwich bar has become the showroom of Rainbow Windows who supply double glazing.

The 1-kilometre stretch of the A65 east of Horsforth roundabout, known as New Road Side, is a linear shopping street at the bottom of the town. There are five pedestrian crossings along this stretch and a 30mph speed limit (most of the A65 west of Kirkstall is 40mph).
