The Strid, Bolton Abbey
There are quite a few 'strids' scattered around the Dales. But this one is THE Strid, where for many years young bloods have attempted to leap across the River Wharfe, usually watched by their admiring girlfriend, or egged on by rowdy companions. Often the results have been tragic. This 'dare' is quite definitely not to be recommended.
