SX8967 : Bittersweet near Barton Hall Farm

taken 15 years ago, near to Daccombe, Devon, England

Bittersweet near Barton Hall Farm
Bittersweet near Barton Hall Farm
Solanum dulcamara, poisonous itself, is a close relative of lots of vegetables that are good to eat (aubergines, tomatoes, potatoes etc), although some of them, too, have poisonous leaves and stems. Taken, like SX8967 : Rose of Sharon near Barton Hall Farm, on the path connecting the housing estate at Shearwater Drive to the bridleway below Barton Hall. The path has now almost disappeared between bushes of Rose of Sharon and Lonicera.
