James Young Simpson's grave, Warriston
The prominent tombstone at the rear of this group marks the grave of the Simpson family. Sir James Young Simpson, who is buried here, discovered the anaesthetic properties of chloroform in 1847. His family declined the offer to bury him in Westminster Abbey.
