Salisbury Wood
Salisbury Wood
This coniferous plantation covers the steepest part of the scarp slope of the North Downs in the NW corner of the square. The topsoil here is a very thin layer on the underlying chalk, hence the pale colour of this field in which I could discern no growing crop. Kent has just experienced its driest winter for over 100 years which may explain the lack of growth. Looking NNW from the Pilgrims' Way.
