NN0096 : Kinbreack

taken 16 years ago, 4 km from Murlaggan, Highland, Great Britain

Kinbreack
Kinbreack
A previous visit here was bitterly cold: water that I'd collected from the burn had a layer of ice by the time I'd carried it inside, and I later heard that Altnaharra had had a record low of -27C.

The bothy is in the shade of the hill, and at this time of year gets no direct sunlight at all, the shadow falling just to the north all through the day.
