War Memorial at Little Carlton, Lincolnshire
This well-cared for village war memorial is situated at a road junction, where Legbourne Lane, leaves the road to Great Carlton. The Celtic Cross measures 1400mm high, and is placed onto three blocks of rough granite in a “wedding cake style”. In front of the memorial is some gravel, placed there by a villager David Norris. On three sides of the memorial is a hedge of Escallonia, planted by a local farmer, but maintained by David Norris and Ian Brocklesby. A Malcolm Blowman maintains the grass surrounding the memorial. There are the names of 17 men who left the village to serve in World War 1 and one man who died in World War 2.
