Second-hand diesels at Douglas
Second-hand diesels at Douglas
In 1959 the County Donegal Railways in the north west of Ireland decided they could no longer carry on beyond the end of that year, and the whole of the rolling stock (and everything else) belonging to the railway was put up for sale. The most modern diesel railcars, Nos 19 and 20, being of 3ft gauge, were purchased by the Isle of Man Railways. In the Isle of Man, where there are no suitable turning facilities, they have always operated as a pair, coupled back to back. They are seen here near to Douglas station.
