The structure stands beside Sawpit Drive in the centre of the Forest. From it the hunter can view both the Drive (a wide straight NE-SW track) and a path which crosses the Drive at this point. There is a similar hide 200 yards away to the south-west SU2166 : Hunters' high seat - Savernake Forest so the two high seats together have a field of fire covering some 4-500 yards of the Drive.
