Stilling pond, Shorncote Quarry

The country park adjacent gets its water from the dewatering of the quarry. It goes though this stilling pond for the larger solids to drop out before flowing through into the top lake in the country park. The top lake is clay lined and holds its level. The bottom lake is not lined and the level varies with the water table.
