Lynton and Lynmouth funicular
Lynton and Lynmouth funicular
The upper station of the delightful Victorian funicular which connects Lynton and Lynmouth. The funicular is powered by water balance. A tank under the upper car is filled with water from a local stream SS7149 : Fill her up! whilst the tank under the lower one is drained. When the brakes are released the heavier upper car descends pulling the lighter car uphill. When it reaches the bottom station the process is reversed. An environmentally friendly way to travel!
