The Old Cable Works, Lydbrook
The old Lydbrook Cable Works. The Cable Works during the first World War, employed some 650 people. It was the main supplier of telegraph cable in WW1, producing some 15,000 miles of it for field telephones on the western front. The cable works closed in 1965 despite employing 1,200 at one stage. Various firms have used the site since but it now stands empty.
