Lydia Eva at Great Yarmouth
Lydia Eva at Great Yarmouth
The Uks last steam herring drifter, originally built at Kings Lynn in 1930. It lived its fishing life at Great Yarmouth as part of Harry Eastick's small fleet.
The Last catch in here 8 year career was on December 1938. Two months later Harry sold her and his other vessels to Norford Sufflings (local fish merchants)

Later on being sold onto Caernarvonshire Yacht Company, they altered and equipped the boat for a contract with the Air Ministry. This employed her in maintaining and servicing buoys around the West coast. In 1942 Lydia Eva was requisitioned by the Ministry of War Transport this resulted in her being engaged in salvage work.
In 1966 Marine Services Division of the Royal Navy took her on, here she was fitted with a new boiler and a higher wheelhouse.
However after 3 years the sale board was up again, the boat was transferred to preservation in 1971.
Heritage Lottery Funding in the tune of £750,000 came in the early 2000s and now the vessel is an attraction.
