SU7709 : Racton Monument/Tower/Folly

Racton Monument/Tower/Folly
Completed in 1772 this folly was possibly intended as a summerhouse for Stansted House.
Another interesting fact is that planning permission was granted in 1996 to convert the folly into a 'private dwelling with integral garage'. Nothing was built for five years so a renewal for the planning permission was sought in 2001. I can't find that it was given but there is still a current file (01/02121/FUL) with Chichester District Council. Anyway enjoy the folly while you can as somebody has their eyes on it.
