Oakhurst Cottage, Hambledon
Oakhurst Cottage, Hambledon
At SU964379. The National Trust have several cottages in the village, which are lived in apart from this one. This has been restored to represent a 19C labourer's cottage. Its history is not for certain, but it was probably built as a timber-framed barn in the 16C and became a dwelling in the 17C. A large bread oven, which projects from the back wall, was added in the 18C, and a staircase inserted, leading to two bedrooms.
