TR3140 : Dover Harbour station
near to Dover, Kent, Great Britain

Dover Harbour station
During the nineteenth century, competition between the two railway companies (the South Eastern and the London Chatham & Dover) serving Dover led to a considerable duplication of facilities. So much so that prior to 1914 the town had no fewer than four main line stations. One of these was Dover Harbour which was opened by the LC&DR in 1861 and closed by the Southern Railway in 1927. Surprisingly much of its fabric survives over eighty years later. At least part of the buildings seen here is currently used by P&O. Taken looking down from The Viaduct.
