"Reframing the Picturesque" – installation art at Tattershall
A family enjoying the installation designed by landscape artist Sarah Price as part of "The House of Bling" exhibition at Tattershall Castle.
Inspired by the castle's "picturesque" period of abandonment between the mid 17th and late 19th centuries, the artist has created a living installation of wild flowers and grasses around the ruins of the stable block. Positioned at strategic points are several camera obscuras, encouraging the visitor to appreciate the work from a different perspective. Because the whole site is Grade 1 listed the planting medium had to be imported as no excavation of the site was allowed.
Sarah Price is a young and increasingly popular landscape designer. She is a Chelsea Flower Show Silver medallist and is one of the design team for the gardens at the 2012 Olympic Games.
