Drumlins, cut for hay, on Gore’s Island in the south western corner of Strangford Lough.
Drumlin country

In simple (non-technical) words, drumlins are rounded hills, usually of stones and clays deposited by glaciers during the ice age. They form the “basket of eggs” landscape found in parts of Cos Down and Armagh.

Gore's Island, Strangford Lough

Gore’s Island is a drowned drumlin, on the south western side of Strangford Lough, near the Quoile Barrage. Now uninhabited, it had a few residents in the early 19th century. Connected to the rest of Co Down by a ford said to be passable at low water.
