Market Overton: terraced houses built for ironstone workers
Market Overton: terraced houses built for ironstone workers
This is a very urban-looking brick terrace to find in a limestone village in Rutland. These cottages were built by James Pain Ltd, original owners of the Market Overton ironstone quarries (1906-72) to house their workforce. See other photos nearby for more on the quarries and quarry railways in the area.
