TM0819 : The Tide Mill Thorrington
near to Thorrington, Essex, Great Britain

The Tide Mill Thorrington
Thorrington Tide mill is a Pre-Victorian Tide Mill on a much earlier site. It has been in preservation by Essex County council since 1972. It last worked by water in 1927 when a steam engine was installed, this drove only one of the three sets of grind- stones. However it saved having to wait for the correct tide. The mill-pond is no longer tidal. It is hoped that one day the water wheel TM0819 : Thorrington Mill Wheel will turn again as a conventional breast shot watermill. For a little more info see Link
