L9030 : Knotted Wrack
near to Annaghvaan, Galway, Ireland

Knotted Wrack
The narrow channel between Eanach Mheain and the smaller Inis Loiscthe does not quite dry out at low tide, but rock outcrops and boulders make it un-navigable. As with the most part of this sheltered, shallow bay an abundance of the Knotted Wrack (Ascophyllum nodosum) covers every inter-tidal surface. I am always impressed by the vivid yellow colour of this seaweed.
