This is water pump erected by friends and family members of Frederick Allen Freshney, who went to South Africa, joined in the Boer War, was injured by a bullet from a Mauser rifle and the Battle of Colenso, 15 December, 1899, and subsequently died in Salfleet on May 20th, 1906.
