Looking down into the hole from the very edge of what is left of the roadway. In the hole are whole chunks of masonry and tarmac. It was fortunate that I went down there early this morning. If I had been only a few minutes later, I would not have been able to photograph the damage because a council lorry rolled up and the men quickly erected an impenetrable fence round the whole damage site.
