SJ3165 : 8-12 The Highway, Hawarden

taken 15 years ago, near to Hawarden, Flintshire/Sir y Fflint, Wales

8-12 The Highway, Hawarden
8-12 The Highway, Hawarden
Photographed from Church Road, the plaque above the doorway to number 10 The Highway reads '1877'. Prior to this date, according to the surveyor's schedule from 1851-2 for the 'Abstract of levelling from Warrington to Pembroke Docks, through Chester, Flint', there was a 1GL '[bench]Mark on large stone at door of Ann Williams's house, opposite road to Hawarden Church'. Clearly 'Ann Williams's house' has been demolished. A Francis Frith photo from 1903 LinkExternal link shows that the shop on the left was already a chemist's at that date. The Gallery Coffee Shop is more recent, but equally useful.
