At SU637568. This house was first built for Lord Sandys, Henry VIII's Lord Chamberlain in the early 16C, but was altered and reduced in size in the mid-17C. It was bequeathed by Sir Charles Chute to the National Trust in 1956. The Classical portico on the west front (see other photo) was the first of its kind in England.
